The Captain Goofs in MySpace.
.I opened my MySpace account this morning to update my account, add new friends and read the message bulletin. After I was done, I loitered around the site and visited the profiles of people who are not actually in my network. I stopped by the page of Alvin Patrimonio. He is one celebrity who periodically updates his profile.
.
Some of the new additions to his page are his new photos. I downloaded these, which show the 4-time MVP winner goofing and clowning in front of the camera. With him is his first daughter, Christine, who is in training in Spain to become a professional tennis player. They appear to be having dinner in some restaurant.

The poses are hardly funny. Still, they provide a refreshing view to the private life of the very private basketball legend.

I have often read that Alvin, indeed, has a funny side to his very serious public persona. This manifests in the locker room, when he tries to lighten the mood of an otherwise very tense team. He also reportedly plays pranks with his kids.
.
Alvin's team, Purefoods, is presently 1-1 against Red Bull in their ongoing semifinals series.
.
-----oOo-----
.
Still in MySpace, I clicked from Alvin's profile to that of his son, Angelo. The physical resemblance between father and son is striking. Very striking. I can still recall how Alvin looked like when he entered the pro league in 1988. His son, Angelo, now looks exactly like him. Memories.

And it seems that the similarities between father and son do not stop at their physical attributes. See here a photo of the young Angelo playing a fool in front of the camera, just like his dad in the pics above.
.
It is safe to say, by now, though, that Angelo did not inherit his father's athletic prowess. He has ventured into basketball and tennis without much success. Instead, he is presently giving showbusiness a chance and he appears in a weekly teeny-bopper TV show.
.
Alvin also had some success in showbusiness enough to earn an entry in imdb. However, he put a halt to accepting movie and TV projects in order to concentrate on his basketball career.
.

To close today's entry I am posting a pic that I got from a gay blog just yesterday. I don't know whether I like this picture or not. I am torn between labelling it "sexy" or "ridiculous". The viking wannabe has a great ripped body and that cock is juicily inviting. And yet the mask and the pants are repulsive.

Retro Blow 03: Daniel Jacob.
.
I know that, by now, it appears trite the way I open some of my journal entries. Always stressing how the guy or girl is my favorite, or one of my favorites, and then proceeding to ramble or gush over them. But this blog is about my confessions and that is exactly how I feel about the matter sometimes, so there appears to be no other way to go about it.
.
So hold on. Because I am just about to do it one more time.
.
If I am finally able to make a list, the list that I have been planning to do for the longest time, of my 25 favorite Playgirl models in the more than 10 years that I have been reading the magazine, Daniel Jacob will definitely be in that list. Not only will he be in that list, he will be on the top half of that (so inconsequential and trivial yet) honor roll.
.
Daniel Jacob first appeared in the magazine on January 2003. He was the coverboy of that issue and was likewise featured as its centerfold. His photo spread was well made and excellently conceptualized.
.
Daniel was first shown wearing a suit, white undershirt and a bow tie. He was in full regalia. The shoot must have been done in a posh hotel, as next, Daniel is sitting on a chair, a white draped table on his side, a long-stemmed rose and a bucket of champagne waiting by and rose petals gather at his feet.
.
Slowly, Daniel is undressed until he settles on the bed and offers himself to join the fantasies of the readers. I love that issue. I have never tired of looking at the nakedness of Daniel.
.
A lot of sites and blogs already post the Playgirl photos of Daniel. I have down-loaded these high-resolution photos to my hard drive where they will also be forever kept and cherished.
.
For this retro on Daniel (I featured him last summer as Must Blow #23), I have decided to include a mixture of photos showing his different aspects. I pasted here photos from that famous Playgirl stint, from when he was still starting as a legitimate professional model (he reportedly got his first break at Abercrombie and Fitch), to his adonis site pics, and other press releases.
.
I have quite a stock of Daniel Jacob pictures by now, a fruit of my googling and netsurfing in the last four years. I have him posing artistically. There are also black and white pictures and muscle appreciation as he works out on the gym. There is also the photoset of him modelling underwear.
.
Daniel Jacob, despite not showing up again in Playgirl or in any gay magazine, remains one of the most active body models in America. Aside from maintaining the adonis site with fellow Playgirl and A&F alumnus Pete Maneos, Daniel surges on as a professional model.
.
I encountered one site (I don't recall if it was a blog) speculating and suggesting that Daniel is now a rentboy. I have not found any support to this claim. However, how I wish it were true. And how I wish I could afford him.
.
Well, for now, the only way I can ravish dreamboy Daniel Jacob is through these photos.

Novak wins Australian Open. As I predicted here last January 15, Novak Djokovic won this year's Australian Open. He defeated surprise finalist and unseeded Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, 4-6, 6-4, 6-3, 7-6 (7-2), to bring home his first ever grand slam.
.
The 20-year old Serb's road to the finals was a tough one. In the semifinals, he was paired against world number 1 and defending champion, Roger Federer. I was lucky enough to watch the live telecast of the match, in which Novak manhandled Federer in three straight sets. Between the first and second sets, Novak (trailing 3-5) even managed to win six straight points, including three break points. It was the first time, in 102 matches since the French Open of 2004, that Federer lost in straight sets in a grand slam.
.
It was a well-deserved win for Novak, who remains number three in the PTA rankings, behind Federer and Rafael Nadal.
.
In the earlier part of the tournament, Novak entertained the crowd by doing an impersonation of fellow tennis superstar Maria Sharapova. The clip I found on youtube was hilarious. In the photo to the left, Novak makes fun of fellow pretty boy, Andy Roddick.

Rachel Bilson Graces GQ.

My deposed Woman of the Year and still reigning ultimate fantasy/girlfriend material Rachel Bilson is on the cover of this month's issue of GQ. My (all-time) favorite female celebrity and my (current) favorite magazine in one sizzling combination. That's something to be really thankful for.

Bilson is dubbed as American beauty. Appropriately, she appears on the cover bedecked red white and blue. It is not the American flag, though, that is draped around her but a two-piece bikini that barely covers the inappropriate. A lace of red is wrapped around her short, slim legs, leading to her sexy white shoes.

I
n the inside pages, Rachel is teasing. she wears the same red-white-and-blue combination bikini as she sips her coke light (the phallic symbolism is not lost on the readers) and tumbles on the beige carpet.

W
hen she changes costume, the same amount of flesh remains exposed. She lies in bed in just brasierre and underpants, silk I must judge. Suggestively, she bites the tip of her right ring finger and then undoes the strap of her bra.
.
Rachel! Oh, Rachel!!!

I must say that GQ could not have chosen a better covergirl. Gearing from just a style guide and competing with other men's magazines in terms of sexual content (or non-contents), GQ has featured female personalities in the past year from Jessica Alba and Jessica Biel to Giselle Bundchen. Bilson is a logical successor as she is one of the sexiest women in the world.

I consider this a big boost for the career of Bilson. The O.C. has long ended and no new big project has come her way. Adam Brody has come out with a feature film, In the Land of Women. On the other hard, Marissa Cooper, I mean Mischa Barton, remains a tabloid topic.
.
With this exposure, I hope that Rachel will get the career push that she truly deserves. This girl does not deserve to be a one-show wonder, or a mere footnote to the new millenium's TV history.

Saw Sweeney Todd last Friday. I enjoyed the movie but most of the people in the theater did not seem to share my appreciation. The audience had mixed reception of the movie.

The apathy, ambivalence or downright unappreciation of some of the viewers is explainable. Sweeney is not the typical entertainment that one expects at this time and age. The theme ---and the movie in general--- is dark. It is hardly entertaining or relaxing, even if it is a musical.

But Sweeney Todd remains an excellent piece of film. The cinematography, production and direction are just near perfect. The audience was instantly transported to the era when Sweeney exacted his revenge. Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter gave performances that are certainly among their best.

The movie is a museum piece. To appreciate the movie, the viewer must psyche himself that he is seeing a film for the experience of it ---much like the mental condition one must put himself in before watching a show in Broadway. And also, to judge the film one must consider its intrinsic faults and beauties and not in comparison with other works.

Can Depp sing? Sure. He can carry a tune but his voice lacks the power and the range to really carry a musical and bring the crowd to an ovation.

There is no more space above so I have to put this last Rachel Bilson picture here.

Fresh Meat: Tyler Lough.
.
In the absence of a real man in my life at the moment ---he of flesh and bones and perfectly exfoliated skin--- I am declaring model Tyler Lough as my current boyfriend.

We met in Booksale last Tuesday. I was rummaging through the stock of newly arrived magazine when I suddenly saw him staring up at me, intently.
.
Tyler was wearing a jumpsuit, buttons undone, giving a glimpse of his chisseled pecs, revealing his rippled abs and delectable raisin-like right nipple. It was love at first sight. I made my quick purchase of a September 2007 issue of Genre magazine and went out the store.
Tyler joined me outside. In the light of the bright midday sun, I had a better occasion to study his features. How he stands erect and nearly a full head taller than me. How his curly hair perfectly caps his lovely face. His cheeks as soft and fresh as a pubescent boy. The pouty thin lips that I longed to kiss in broad daylight.
.
We parted in the parking lot. I made him wait in my car while I reported to my office. It proved to be a long day filled with agony and anticipation. While phone calls and paperwork continued to run to my desk, all I could think of was the young man waiting in my car. All I could do in the prison of my cubicle was to repeat the name he gave me. TYLER. Ty-ler. Tyler.
.
I was eager to get home that night and be alone with Tyler. I skipped my usual gym date and had a quick dinner. Afterwards, in the privacy of my bedroom, I got to know more about Tyler until his company lulled me to sleep.
.
Tyler spent the night in my bed. In the morning, as I prepared for another day at work and he was still half-deep in slumber in my cozy bed, I took his pictures using my K800i phone [4 photos are uploaded in this journal entry].
.
During the day, his features still fresh in my mind, I googled Tyler in the web. I had instant hits giving his complete name and informing me that he is a full-time model currently with All-American Guys. As with anything about a person we love, I welcomed these information as dearly as Tyler himself. The stars are aligning, I told myself.
.
And I eagerly waited for the day to end and be alone with Tyler one more time.

The Last of Delio.

Have I seen the last of Delio? That is the thought that occupied me Tuesday night while I was doing my circuit training in the gym.
.
I looked around the gym floor as I made my way to the locker room. He wasn't there. I had a heavy feeling in my chest as I entered the locker room, which was really the anticipation, anxiety and will to find him by his usual place, digging in his bag for a fresh underwear, white towel wrapped around his waist and throwing me an occasional glance. He wasn't there too.
.
It's been the third week of January and I haven't seen him back. The last time I saw him was during the Christmas party in the gym and we shared a bottle of Bellagio party wine (along with some other members). I miss him. At first, I thought he must have gone on holiday vacation but January is almost over and it seems absurd to think that way anymore. He must already have cancelled his membership and moved on to another. Damn the aliens who suddenly crowded our otherwise elite club!
.
About a week ago, I received an anonymous text inviting me to join the gym club in Dusit Hotel. My first thought was that the message came from Delio. Maybe he misssed me too. But I checked the number I had in my address book and it didn't tally with Delio's number. I am this close to calling him but still couldn't find the courage and the words.
.
It also seems desparate. I am imagining a conversation in an entirely different context. Something more natural and pleasant.
.
My longing for Delio now is roused by the fact that Quincy and I have stopped seeing each other. Something happened before and during Christmas that I am still not ready to look back and delve on now. But I hope that I'll be ready to write about it soon.

It is loneliness. Things are falling apart. I have resolved not to answer Quincy's text messages and calls. Leslie will be leaving for Italy in the second week of February. And things with Rachel are not the same as they were before.

Am I looking at Delio to provide me some anchor or throw me a life vest? I don't know.

I updated the right margin features on this blog. I posted the covers of the September and October 2007 issues of Details that are presently on my bedside table. The coverboys are Clive Owen and Brad Pitt, respectively.

I also posted the movie posters of National Treasure 2: The Book of Secrets and Alvin and the Chipmunks, both of which I saw during the weekend. This is my review for Chipmunks: Truly entertaining. An outstanding achievement from cartoons to CGI. Fun for both adults and kids.

I am quite biased towards this film. It is one of my favorite cartoon shows as a child. I remember naming three ducks that I bought after school, when I was in grade two, after them. Seeing them again brought back fond memories. Jason Lee was terrific in this film, too.

On the other hand, I dissed NT2 and warned other viewers: Boring and insulting. Go watch American Gangsters or whatever else is currently showing.

-----oOo-----

Celebrity Radar. After seeing Chipmunks, I spotted model Martin Jickain (photographed above and here in black skimpy trunks) loitering in Shangri-La with a female friend (to my disappointment, was not a celebrity). He was in front of me in the escalator and the first things I noticed and admired were how his triceps bulged in his fitted shirt and how his butt also filled his jeans. My hunk alert was instantly triggered and when I saw his profile I was quick to recognize him.

I have seen this guy on TV and I never gave him a second look. But seeing him in person, this guy is delicious. As they say, I wouldn't kick him out of my bed.

Must Blow 49: Andrew Wolff.
.
Love me or leave me. These seem to be the only choices that today's Must Blow hunk Andrew Wolff gave the audience when he suddenly splashed into the Philippine social scene in 2005. And how his career turned up provides the answer to that dare.
.
Andrew started his career in the Philippines as a ramp and commercial model. Writing that sentence now seemed unnecessary and tautological. The photos I pasted on this entry seem to say it all. The face. The body. What else could he be but a commercial model?
.
Reviewing the products that he came to endorse, it is quite clear that it is the boyishness, innocence and boy-next-door aura and looks that have attracted Andrew to the advertisers and the consuming public. He achieved instant success and quite the "It" boy status to rival fellow model Brent Javier during the era.
.
But Andrew had other fancies. Success, as easily as it came to him, got over his head. Modelling was not enough and he ventured to become an actor. He pumped up his physique (Maybe he wanted to be a sexy actor and nothing else), created controversy around him and began dating trashy women. He was asking the public to notice him, and it sort of got out of hand.
.
That is the same reason why although I greatly admire Andrew's looks (He had me without having to say "hello".) it took me some time before I finally got myself to feature him in this blog. Do I really like this guy, I had to ask myself. Sometimes I do, sometimes I don't.
.
I mean, any guy who dates or associates with Ethel Booba, you had to question his motives, his character, his intelligence. What is this guy about? Is he for real? He seems to be able to get any girl, so why Booba? Or just simply, what is wrong with this guy?
.
I think the quandary was not mine alone. The moment Andrew appeared on talk shows defending that he did not sleep with Booba or that he did not sponge off her measly riches, it was a total turn-off for all girls. When one looks up to or fantasizes a guy as a potential boyfriend, the cock is not all. You imbue him with intelligence, wit, character, wisdom and class. And when Andrew made public ---even in the form of denial--- his relations with Booba, all that was gone. It was not just a balloon bursting, it was a nuclear detonation of collective fantasies.
.
And so even before Andrew's acting career began, even his modelling gigs started to wane. Project by project, they went away. Soon after, Andrew had to leave the country. There was no career here that should hold him.
.
But I read in the papers that he is back. He is prepared to tone down his vices, pride and outrageousness and give acting a second chance.
.
But that is not the real question. The question is whether the public will still take him back.
.
Love him or leave him?
.
Blow him. Then leave. He isn't worth all the trouble.
.

Read a piece of bad news when I opened yahoo. Talented actor Heath Ledger passed away today. Attendants in the apartment building in Manhattan where he has taken residence found him lying naked on the floor, dead cold and with a scatter of prescription sleeping pills nearby. Whether drug overdose is the cause of death and whether it is accidental or intentional have not been made clear. .

Heath was only 28 years young.

His first Hollywood break came in 10 Things I Hate About You, a teen comedy take of a Shakepeare play. He established himself as a serious actor in a little role in Monster's Ball and joined the A-list with an Oscar nomination in the neo-classic Brokeback Mountain. His last film, Dark Night, is set to be released this year. In this latest Batman tale, Ledger plays the role of The Joker.

.I bought a back issue of Genre yesterday. I don't really follow this magazine but I was easily convinced to purchase a copy upon seeing the cover model.

On the same day, I found out that his name is Tyler Lough. I googled him today and this is one of the photos I found. Sexy, isn't he?
.
This morning, I took photos of his magazine spread using my K800i. Since I already committed myself to today's blog entry, gushing about Tyler will have to be delayed. I will upload them soon in this blog.

Mr. Fireman, Hose Me Down.
.
It is a time of pride for all Filipinos. Our golfers, Jennifer Rosales and Dorothy Delasin, just won the 4th Women's World Cup in Sun City, South Africa. They beat the Korean team in the finals and brought home the whopping prize of $ 280,000 (nearly 11 million pesos).
.
I read the news earlier today and had goosebumps. The country is not really known as a superpower in golf yet here we are bringing home the top prize. Kudos to Jennifer, Dorothy and all those who helped them in their victory. Mabuhay!
.
-----oOo-----
..Pictures of this guy is currently making the rounds of gay blogs everywhere. I saw him first in Kenneth in the 212 (I don't recall if it was late December or early 2008) and thereafter had several sightings in other blogs. I would have featured him here earlier ---immediately after downloading the photos from K212--- but I experienced technical trouble in uploading the photos. I was so frustrated that I had to abandon the attempt.
.
Anyway, I tried again today and, alas, achieved success.
.
The model's name is Michael Biserta. According to K212, Biserta is a New York fireman. Isn't his occupation quite ironic? Whenever Biserta responds to an incident, instead of dousing the fire, he only makes the place hotter with his presence and fuels the flame of desire of those present.
.
And look at how physically gifted this particular fireman is! He is an invitation to arson. I'd burn my house down just so he would rescue me from the flames and carry me to safety in his strong arms. I can already imagine myself clinging to him like a jellyfish, getting a feel of his muscled back and his dome-hard butt. I'd even pretend to faint if it would earn me some mouth-to-mouth resuscitation.
.
The hard abs. The six-pack. Those nipples. The inviting bulge cradled in the tighty whities he is wearing. I am already dialling 911.
.
Hello? 911. I just saw pictures of Fireman Michael Biserta. I am on fire. Can you send me over so he could douse my desire?
.
I am not kidding. This is a real emergency. This is a matter of life and death. Hello? Hello?
.
Michael first earned his naked notoriety by appearing in a Guys Gone Wild video. I pasted the photos below. The screen captures are quite dark but the length and girth of Biserta's huge cock are easily discernable. He is simply delicious.
.
Michael has capitalized on the attention he is now getting. I read somewhere that he quickly finished a 2008 calendar and it is selling like hotcakes. How I wish I could get my hands on a copy.
.
He is now also busy posing and shooting as a legitimate male model.

To Bi For 26: Iza Calzado.

Last year, I completed my list of 25 sexiest female celebrities. For good measure, I reserved spots for all-time crushes Jennifer Love Hewitt (No. 24) and Winona Ryder (No. 25). This caused me to postpone featuring other equally beautiful and captivating women, particularly those who caught my fancy and fantasy only just recently.
.
One such woman is the very elegant and regal Iza Calzado. I know her from her appearances on television dramas as well as her TV commercials. Though I am yet to tune in on her shows and watch one completely, I have seen enough scenes to make an assessment that she is a good actress. This means, at the least, that her projections on the screen can be said as "acting" and that she does nothing in front of the camera that would make the viewer revulse, turn off the TV or change the channel. She is a pleasant presence on the screen and her beauty makes every scene only richer.

From what I read in the gossip columns, Iza is bound for Hollywood. She is already shooting a thriller alongside hunky Jesse Bradford that will be released in the United States and around the world. In the local scene, she will be starring opposite bad boy Robin Padilla in a new primetime drama. It seems that things are really looking up for this very nice girl.

Another bit of good news, at least for the male population who desire Iza, is the apparent lack of any news about a boy in the lovelife of Iza. No boyfriend or suitor has ever been written since she joined showbiz three or four years ago. I asked a friend from the entertainment industry about this. Is there any estranged husband lurking somewhere or a child out of wedlock stashed in the provinces? He said no, Iza is just focused on her career right now. How very showbiz. Still, it made me smile inside. There is hope, after all.

As if. Hope does not translate to chance.

SatCon MOTY Update. I have narrowed down the finalists for my Man of the Year to just five. They are Hollywood actors Orlando Bloom, Chris Evans and Jake Gyllenhaal; paranormal investigator Jensen Ackles and hotbody Chad White. The enumeratiom is random and each one retains an equal chance of ending up as the title holder.

Meanwhile, I have ranked the five "eliminated" nominees as follows:

6th - Julian Fantechi

7th - Josh Elliot

8th - Leighton Stultz

9th - JC De Vera

10th - Joey Amis

Guilty Pleasure: Will and Grace Reruns.

I started the year writing a blog about my NBA idol, Magic Johnson. Two nights ago, while on the treadmill, I chanced upon a very old game between the Los Angeles Lakers and San Diego Clippers (the team hasn't moved to L.A.) over at Basketball Channel. From the game announcers I gathered that it was Magic's very first game in the professional league, then still known as NBL. Magic finished with 23 points but missed about three easy jump shots in the last two minutes of play. The Lakers won through a patented hook shot delivered by Kareem Abdul-Jabbar in the last two seconds of play, by one point.
.
-----oOo-----
.
Studio 23 changed its late night programs dropping Oprah and replacing it with another run of the last season of Will and Grace. The queen of talk was relegated to a daytime slot.
.

This development is very much welcome. Will and Grace is one of my favorite sitcoms of all time. It ranks up there, maybe only behind Friends, Frasier and The Simpsons. I have seen 90% of its episodes since it first aired. However, I wasn't able to follow its last season as successfully because of a conflict in my work schedule.
.
The show first aired in the country in 1999. I was still in law school then. On Sunday evenings, I would watch the show while ironing my clothes. Whenever it was on, however, I noticed that it took me a longer time finishing just one piece of clothing. The brand of comedy and the level of acting were so good that I was gravely distracted from my ironing.
.
Since I was in law school and Will Truman (played by Eric McCormack) is a lawyer on TV, I can't help but ask myself whether there is any similarity between the character and myself. Or whether the life he is portraying in the show is the one I wanted to live. Though there are similarities between us, I do not think that we two are really comparable.
.
Will and Grace, unquestionably, has one of the best casts ever. All four ---McCormack, Debra Messing, Sean Hayes and Megan Mullally--- have a knack for physical comedy and are profoundly gifted with comedic timing. There was never a joke wrongly delivered in its entire run.
.
All four of them eventually took home Emmy statuettes before the show went off the air. Mullally was first honored for her supporting role in 2000, along with Hayes for the counterpart male category. She would repeat in 2006. McCormack won in 2001 as Lead Actor while Messing, as Lead Actress, completed the quartet's win in 2003. I don't know if any other main cast in another show (comedy or drama) has achieved the same feat.
.
Their peers at the Screen Actors Guild also honored their performances with an award for the ensemble in 2001, for Mullally in 2002, 2003 and 2004, and for Hayes in 2002, 2003 and 2006. GLAAD also awarded the show as best comedy show for seven times in eight years (1999 to 2003, 2005 and 2006).

.
And it is not only the main cast that provided the audience invaluable laughter. Supporting character Shelley Morrison (as the maid Rosario) and recurrent characters Leslie Jordan (Beverley Leslie), Blythe Danner (Will's mom) and Deborah Reynolds (Grace's mother) were just as funny. Guest actors John Cleese (Karen Walker's love interest), Bobby Canavale (Vince), Michael Angarano (Jack's son Elliot), Alec Baldwin, Minnie Driver (as Stan's mistress) and Matt Damon provided additional spark and luster to the show. I didn't like Harry Connick, Jr, though.
.
With the reruns of the show, I now have a new habit. It is just about the last I see for four nights a week (Tuesday to Friday) before I turn off the TV set. And I always feel great to retire to bed after a hearty laugh provided by this exceptional show.
.
-----oOo-----
.
It took me forever to upload pictures for the immediately preceding blog entry. I started the article Tuesday but due to technical problems, was only able to finalize and publish it yesterday. Ironically, the entry is entitled Some Guys Have It All.

I feel relieved that I did not encounter the same problem today and uploading photos ran quickly and smoothly. To take advantage of this, I have decided to run another Julian of the Day installment. Uploading went so well that I included not just one but two photos from his Men appearance in 2006.

Guess how I'd venture to wake Julian up?

Some Guys Have It All.
.
Regular guys like me have all the reason to gripe and complain. With the way professional sports is presently turning out, it is being dominated by a few good men who are not only innately talented in their own chosen fields, but are certified hunks that women on the sidelines can't help but cheer for till their tonsils hang out.
.
This morning I watched Novak Djokovic ace his way to win his first round game in the ongoing Australian Open. He trounced Benjamin Becker, 6-0, 6-2, 7-6 (5).
.
It was a lopsided win for Djokovic, who seemed unperturbed by his competition. He enters the tournament with very high morale. Roger Federer is said to be short in practice as he suffered from some form of stomach virus just weeks before the Aussi Open began. And while Rafael Nadal is a very strong competitor, the hard surface is not really his terrain. This leaves Djokovic, whom critics are almost unanimous in predicting would come out triumphant in the tournament.
.
My favorite tennis player of this generation, Andy Roddick won his 3rd straight Kooyong title. Though this invitational is said to be a tune-up for the Aussie Open, Roddick's win was not enough to put him among the favorites in the first major title of 2008.
.In soccer, Manchester United remains on top of the standing of the ongoing Barclay Premier League in the United Kingdom. In 22 games, Man U has won 16, lost only thrice, and has three draws. They have scored 51 goals throughout the tournament.
.
Closely behind Man U is Arsenal with 15 wins, 6 losses and one draw. They have also scored 51 goals this year.
.
The success of Manchester United is due in most part to the spectacular showing of its dynamic duo: Wayne Rooney and Cristiano Ronaldo.
.
I am new to this sport. My interest started only when I watched Zinedine Zidane in the last World Cup in Germany and was amazed by how well he handles the ball. The experience was almost religious and nearly similar to the first time I saw Magic Johnson play basketball (see journal entry entitled Icons [1]). It instantly transformed me to a fan.
.
Everytime I chance upon it, I tune in to a soccer game on cable. So far, I have found myself cheering for Man U and always looking for Ronaldo or Rooney in the field of play.
.
Rooney is an exceptional player. His footworks are unbelievable and, as shown by the defense given by the opposing teams, is very much respected by his peers. .
.However, the player I am most excited to see run, kick and score is Portuguese superstar Cristiano Ronaldo. He is a very young player but despite his age has already shown dominance in the sport. Whenever I see him get the ball, he always appears to be in full concentration and one with the ball and the grass he runs on. It always takes him some time, setting himself up, before he kicks the ball to the goal or a teammate waiting on the wings. I find this avid and uncanny display of patience the best virtue of Cristiano.
.
Of course, it doesn't hurt that Cristiano Ronaldo is goodlooking (he is now a fashion icon and people mimic his clothes on and off the court) and that he celebrates his goals by removing his shirt.
.But no one seems to be having a perfect season than football's Tom Brady. The New England Patriots quarterback is leading his team to an unprecedented 17-0 win-loss card in the NFL. While the Patriots still have to fight it out to win the championship, it is almost certain that Brady will be bringing home an MVP award this year for his stellar performance.
.
And by home, I mean to the welcoming arms of Brazilian supermodel Giselle Bundchen whom Brady is still currently dating.
.
Really, some guys have all the luck.

But the one guy I'd really like to play nasty games with is Playgirl's and my own Man of the Year for 2007, Julian Fantechi. Here he is bringing his A-game for today's Julian of the Day ---

Precious Find: Marcus Patrick's Playgirl Appearance.
.
One of the more significant, enjoyable and valuable purchases I made last year was a copy of the September 2007 issue of Playgirl. I bought a copy in November, more than two months a
