To Bi For 27: Marissa Miller.

Hooray!!! The latest issue of Sports Illustrated's Swimsuit Edition has been released in the country. I passed by the mall yesterday afternoon and found dozens of copies serving as the window dressing of several magazine stands.

I wonder why it took quite a long time before the issue was released in Manila. I remember seeing this year's cover girl, Marissa Miller, guest in The Late Show with David Letterman and promote the magazine almost a month ago. According to that interview, the issue would hit US news stands the following day. Were the copies printed in the United States not even enough to satisfy market demands and so we in Asia have to wait for a second printing?
When I found out in Letterman that Marissa Miller would be featured on the cover of the 2008 edition, I was very happy over it. Marissa is one of my favorite female models. And if you put it another way, maybe even my favorite swimsuit model.
.
I remember buying my first Swimsuit copy a few years back. Over and above the twenty-plus models featured in the 2004 edition, Marissa Miller emerged as my favorite. Of course, with that issue, she had to vie with Anna Kournikova for my complete attention.
.
Marissa has been featured in at least seven of the last SI special issues. I marvel at the fact that his looks still haven't changed during that time. She looks as young as the first time I laid eyes on her. How does she do that?
.
S.I.'s Swimsuit Edition is really one of the few times that I buy men's flesh magazine. I do not subscribe to FHM and similar magazines and I only buy when I really really like the girls featured (like when the local version disrobed Cindy Kurleto) or everytime Jessica Alba is promised to be seen posing inside. Long ago, I have discovered that I really find it difficult to objectify women. Maybe out of the profound respect that I have for my mom. Or maybe because I generally gravitate toward prim, proper and nice girls and having them posing naked and suggestive kinda destroys the fantasy for me.
.
I held off buying a copy of the 2008 Swimsuit. For one, because I generally wait for the prices to be marked down after a few months before securing my copy. Second, because I am saving up for my out-of-town trip (I am leaving tomorrow for Boracay) that is sure to be very expensive. And third, because the photos are available in SI's website and that I have already downloaded the albums to my hard drive. Anyway, for posterity's sake I will be buying a copy when backissues hit Booksale.

I tried to include this post yesterday but the pictures just won't upload. Before the showing of There Will Be Blood last Friday, one of the trailers shown was Never Back Down. My eyes were immediately glued on the screen as the movie stars the ever delicious and beautiful Sean Faris. He returns on the big screen as Jake Tyler, a young kid unwittingly sucked in to the life of underground boxing. The trailer reminded me of The Fight Club but I doubt that it is as philosophical.

The movie promises to be gratuitous. There are a lot of shots of Sean shirtless, sweaty and sparring. Seems like enough reason for me to head to the theaters.

This is only the first time in three years that Sean has a movie. His last project was 2005' Yours Mine and Ours. There must be something wrong with Hollywood's casting system.

As I said, I will be gone beginning tomorrow for four days of sun, sea, sand and, hopefully, sex. There will be no blogging during that time as I will use the time to unwind and relax. But I will be back. Of course.
